Biltricide Generic Praziquantel
BRAND: Biltricide
COMPOSOTION : Praziquantel
What Is Biltricide ?
Biltricide Generic Praziquantel is an Anthelmintic - an anti-worm medicine that treats infections caused by worms belonging to all species of Schistosoma (S.mekongi, S.japonicum, S.mansoni, and S.hematobium), besides liver flukes that cause Clonorchiasis (C.sinensis), and Opisthorchiasis (O.viverrin O.felineus).
Generic Praziquantel, the medicinal compound in Biltricide, has vermicidal and vermifugal properties. It impacts the helminths that penetrate through the skin and enter the bloodstream, by causing them to have spasms – as the medicine takes effect – making them die slowly.
When people come into contact with contaminated waster matter in river-water, worms enter their bodies and this causes Schistosoma (Bilharzia, or Snail Fever). Infections such as Clonorchiasis (Chinese Liver Fluke Disease), or Opisthorchiasis (Siberian Liver Fluke Disease, or Cat Liver Fluke Disease), are caused when people eat raw or poorly cooked fish that has been infected by the fluke larvae.
Biltricide comes in a tablet formulation of 600mg. It is usually a 1-day treatment. These tablets have to be taken every 4-6 hours. When you Buy Biltricide, remember that the dosage of Generic Biltricide depends on the nature of the infection, and body-weight of the infected individual.
Praziquantel is not recommended for children below the age of 4, unless the Pediatrician specifically advises this treatment.
Depending on the degree of infection, all the worms may not die at the same time by taking Biltricide, and in such cases, the patient may have to take another course of the medicine, as and when decided by the treating doctor. Generic Praziquantel is able to destroy the adult worms, but not the younger worms. But it does succeed in paralyzing them, and these get expelled from the body with the waste matter.
As Generic Biltricide may make a person drowsy, individuals who drive, operate machines, or perform risky activities, should refrain from performing such activities for a day or two. Older people who take Biltricide, should also remain cautious because it can make them drowsy and slow down their response system.
How Should I Take Biltricide ?
Generic Biltricide should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor.
Take Biltricide with a glassful of water; with or without food. It is recommended that you take the tablet with water during meals. Swallow the tablet whole, without chewing it, as the medicine has a bitter taste, and keeping any part of it in the mouth may cause gagging or vomiting.
Biltricide doses are based upon weight, and the kind of infection you may have. Usual doses are three times in a day with 4-6 hours interval between the doses. Follow the dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor.
