What Are The Side Effects Of Biltricide ?
Biltricide is usually well tolerated. Side effects of Biltricide are very often mild and temporary, which resolve on their own. The less serious side effects may include:-
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- A general feeling of ill-health
- Abdominal discomfort
- Nausea
- Fever.
If you experience an allergic medicine like: Hives, Rash, Itching, Swelling in the face-lips-tongue-mouth, then you must discontinue taking the medicine and speak to your doctor at once.
Seek emergency medical help, in case you experience any Unusual or Major Side Effect, such as:-
- Bloody diarrhea
- Convulsions
- Arrhythmias (any inconsistency in heartbeats – fast, slow, or erratic)
- Severe abdominal pain
- Wheezing
- Severe or persistent vomiting
- Somnolence
- Severe headache
- Myalgia (Muscular pain).
A serious drug reaction to this medicine is rare. It is possible that the side effects you could experience, may be due to the dying parasites, and not because of Praziquantel. This is particularly true for those people in whom the worm burden is high.
The side effects in children are the same as in adults. Since the elderly are at risk, research is not done in many medicines using older people and there is no specific information whether the side effects of Biltricide are different for the geriatric population from younger adults.
This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other side effects not listed above, contact your doctor.
